Ottawa, Canada — : Pleora Technologies, the world’s leading supplier of high-performance video interfaces, today announced that its Transcoder Gateway has won recognition as an industry-best product in the Vision Systems Design 2015 Innovator Awards Program. The judging panel, consisting of experts from system integrator and end-user companies, awarded Pleora with silver in the annual innovation program.

Pleora’s Transcoder Gateway simplifies imaging systems by automatically converting video from up to four GigE Vision or USB3 Vision cameras into the H.264 compression format. While preserving high-quality video for processing and analysis, the compressed image feed is transmitted over a wired or wireless connection using RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) to a playback device, including embedded PCs, tablets, and smartphones, and can be saved to USB-attached storage media. The gateway also outputs HDMI video to high-definition displays. Previously, additional cameras were often needed for observation requirements.
In a military vetronics application, for example, the driver and occupants rely on uncompressed, low-latency GigE Vision video from on-vehicle cameras for navigation and surveillance. The plug-in Transcoder Gateway converts these image feeds into a compressed video stream that is wirelessly transmitted to a command center, other vehicles, or battlefield troops who can view the video on tablets.
