Pleora Embedded Interface Helps NBASE-T Technology Secure Top Innovation 2017 Award

Pleora Technologies, the world’s leading supplier of high-performance video interfaces, today announced that NBASE-T™ technology has won the inVision Top Innovation 2017 award. This annual award recognizes the most innovative products and technologies in the imaging market based on feedback from an independent jury of users and manufacturers. Pleora’s recently introduced iPORT NTx-NBT Embedded Video Interface is the industry’s first off-the-shelf GigE Vision over NBASE-T solution for imaging applications.

The NBASE-T specification defines a new type of Ethernet signaling that boosts the speed of Cat 5e cables up to 5 Gigabit per second (Gbps) – well beyond its previous limit of 1 Gbps – for distances up to 100 meters. NBASE-T technology is a natural evolution for high-performance imaging thanks to its increased bandwidth, low-cost cabling, and compatibility with existing GigE Vision software.

“The award jury recognizes the significant bandwidth and cost advantages of NBASE-T technology, and believes this key innovation will help deliver performance and design benefits in a wide range of machine vision applications,” said Peter Ebert, editor, inVision magazine.

Leading medical manufacturers are now designing Pleora’s NBASE-T video interface hardware into X-ray flat panel detectors (FPDs). Camera manufacturer e2v recently introduced new line scan cameras integrating Pleora’s NBASE-T video interface expertise.

“We’re seeing growing demand for our NBASE-T interface solution as manufacturers seek ways to cost-effectively meet increasing bandwidth demands in industrial, medical, and defense imaging applications,” said Harry Page, president, Pleora Technologies. “This recognition further validates the performance, design, and cost benefits that NBASE-T technology brings to the imaging market.”

“We are honored to receive the inVision Top Innovation 2017 award recognizing one of the many innovative ways that NBASE-T technology is being applied across industries,” said Kamal Dalmia, NBASE-T Alliance president. “We are proud of the progress made by our member companies in just two short years—first in helping to rapidly standardize the technology and now getting it into the hands of manufacturers. We congratulate Pleora – the first alliance member to develop and ship NBASE-T products for the machine vision industry.”
