Pleora recognized as innovation leader for the RuggedCONNECT Smart Video Switcher
Pleora’s RuggedCONNECT Smart Video Switcher takes top honors as a leader of innovation amongst the defense community as a platinum honoree in the 2020 Military & Aerospace Electronics Innovators Awards – a competitive program recognizing the most innovative products impacting the aerospace and defense community each year.
The RuggedCONNECT Smart Video Switcher reduces cognitive burden for military vehicle crew members by providing a high-performance machine learning-enabled imaging solution to increase intelligence, awareness, and safety. The crew-centric design ensures an intuitive and easy to use system which provides the crew commander with advanced situational awareness software for real-time critical data to support decision making. The smart video switcher acquires and processes data from multiple cameras and sensors into a distributed video architecture transmitting over a low-latency, multicast Gigabit Ethernet network, which will then send the data to processors and displays.
The platform requires minimal integration and allows manufacturers to design fully standards-compliant – MIL, GVA, NGVA and VICTORY-ready vehicles. With a modular approach for future capabilities, Pleora’s sensor networking solution is SWAP-C optimized and designers can benefit from the fully redundant multi-camera, multi-sensory system. Technicians can easily add cameras or sensors from any vendor such as thermal, infrared and hyperspectral capabilities, mitigating vendor lock-in and saving costs.
The compact stand-alone device has the computing power of the NVIDIA Jetson TX2i, supporting applications in machine learning and AI as plug-ins for the RuggedCONNECT for in-vehicle situational awareness (LSA), driver vision enhancement applications (DVE), and RCWS, C4ISR and panoramic surveillance applications. Plug-ins include map/terrain overlay, object and threat detection & classification, image enhancement, and reconnaissance reporting. ‘Smart video switching’ stitches together images from multiple cameras to provide the driver with a complete 360° view on a single display, with the ability to share the video with other crew members through the common infrastructure, enabling the ability to record, and share with a command center.
