OTTAWA, CANADA, February 6, 2009: Pleora Technologies, a leading supplier of Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) video connectivity products, today announced the election of its President, George Chamberlain, to a two-year term on the Automated Imaging Association (AIA) Board of Directors.

The AIA is the machine vision industry’s trade group, representing more than 300 member companies from 28 countries. The AIA manages the administration of standards development (including GigE Vision™ and Camera Link®), sponsors conferences and other trade events, and publishes directories and vision-related market studies.

“This appointment recognizes Pleora’s leadership in the AIA in matters relating to the adoption of GigE by the vision industry and the development of the GigE Vision standard,” said Mr. Chamberlain. “I look forward to working with other board members to provide strategic guidance to the group, particularly in light of today’s challenging economic climate.”

Mr. Chamberlain and other members of the Pleora team co-founded the GigE Vision Standard initiative in 2003 and have played a central role at every subsequent stage of its development, including the transfer of the standard to the AIA in 2006 and the drafting of today’s Validation Framework.

“George has tremendous experience in the machine vision industry and is able to provide the Board with an insightful perspective on how the AIA best can offer valuable services to its members,” said Dana Whalls, the AIA’s Managing Director. “I’m looking forward to his input. We have a strong group of industry leaders on the Board for 2009-2010; their enthusiasm and dedication will help us support and grow the machine vision industry.”

Mr. Chamberlain was formally introduced as a Board Member at the AIA Business Conference on February 4-6, 2009 in Coronado, California. The first Board meeting took place on Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
