PixeLINK Partners with Pleora to provide 60 New Gigabit Ethernet Camera Models
OTTAWA, CANADA, November 6, 2007: PixeLINK today announced the addition of the Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) interface to its line of CCD and CMOS industrial digital cameras. The increased bandwidth of GigE at 1000 Mbps will allow for large uncompressed images to be transferred in real time over standard Cat5E network cables up to 100 meters long.
PixeLINK has continued its tradition of making camera integration a simple and quick experience for system developers by providing a common SDK regardless of the customer's chosen camera interface. This will save time for current users of PixeLINK's FireWire and USB 2.0 products and enable easy swapping between PixeLINK camera models depending on the application requirements.
"We're pleased to offer the market the benefits of the Gigabit Ethernet Interface. The high data rates and long cable lengths will make GigE an attractive option for many of today's users of Analog and Camera Link cameras" says PixeLINK's President and CEO, Mike McKay. "The increase in bandwidth compared to our FireWire and USB 2.0 products will open the door for PixeLINK to develop several new camera models based on higher resolution and higher speed (multi-tap) imagers. We'll have 60 GigE cameras and imaging modules to choose from initially and we expect this number to grow very quickly as we add new higher-speed sensors to our existing portfolio"
"Pleora is pleased to welcome PixeLINK into a growing family of companies that leverages our reliable and field-proven GigE interface technology," says George Chamberlain, President of Pleora Technologies. "PixeLINK's well-designed camera platform is a great fit with our best-of-breed GigE connectivity products and we look forward to building a significant partnership with them over the coming years."
The first model in production is the three mega pixel PL-B776G and PL-B776G-BL. The letter G at the end of the camera model number denotes the GigE interface. All of the other models in the PL-B700 series of CMOS cameras and the PL-B900 series of CCD cameras will be integrated with the GigE interface and in production over the next 2 months.
