eBUS Drivers

eBUS is the core software architecture that drives Pleora's newest generation of high-performance device drivers. eBUS allows GigE NIC (network interface card/chip) hardware to emulate direct, bus-like transactions with PC subsystems at the kernel level.
The eBUS architecture supports two drivers:
- The eBUS Universal Driver – which is ideal for most real-time vision applications. It runs on almost any vendor's NIC, handles all IP transport protocols – including ordinary network traffic AND GigE Vision and iPORT transport protocols – and uses 25% less CPU than a filter driver; and
- The eBUS Optimal Driver – which is ideal for applications with very heavy processing overhead. It runs on Intel's PRO/1000 family of NICs, handles all IP transport protocols – including ordinary network traffic AND GigE Vision and iPORT transport protocols – and delivers about the same CPU load as the iPORT High-Performance IP Device Driver.
eBUS drivers are bundled with Pleora's iPORT IP Engines at no extra charge as part of a complete, end-to-end GigE connectivity solution. It's also possible for software vendors, system developers, OEMs and others to license the eBUS-PureGEV package for use in GigE Vision-compliant products based on non-Pleora hardware.
The eBUS drivers are also compatible with Pleora's upcoming "Ten" series of iPORT IP Engines, such as the iPORT CL-Ten IP Engine, which is based on an all-new 10 GigE product platform. The "Ten" series of iPORT IP Engines receives imaging data from up to 8 tap/85 MHz 8/10/12/16 bit cameras and can handle data rates of up to 10 Gb/s.
