Security/Surveillance
Pleora's iPORT™ Connectivity Solution transports almost any type of surveillance image data at up to 1 Gb/s over standard GigE links or LANs. Connections between cameras and PCs are real-time, deterministic, and highly reliable, making iPORT suitable for even the most demanding, mission-critical security installations.
With iPORT, security/surveillance systems leverage GigE's long-distance reach, networking flexibility, scalability, and ease of use. Camera-to-PC links extend up to 100 meters over ordinary Category 5 cable, and multi-node switched networks can be configured to support almost any site requirement.
In the figure below, for example, one PC controls and receives image data from multiple zones. The PC activates the zones and the cameras in each zone in cycles defined by the application and the data rate. iPORT can intelligently 'gear up' or 'gear down' camera frame rates to accommodate the closer inspection of specific areas based on local motion sensors or other mechanisms.
iPORT also allows different digital and/or analog cameras to be integrated easily in one system over a common GigE backplane. This ease of integration is useful where, for example, one surveillance point merits high-resolution digital images and other points can be monitored sufficiently with lower-cost analog cameras.
Installations are straightforward, IP-based client/server exercises. Sites are often pre-wired with Cat-5 cable, driving down costs. PC-based image processing, recording, and archiving systems can be as reliable as DVR (digital video recorder) systems, but cost less, are more scalable, and easier to manage.
